If you want to make a beaded bracelet by hand, all you need is waxed cord or nylon thread (in a dark color like black to make the beads stand out), black and white beads, letter or heart beads, and some scissors. First, measure your wrist and cut a piece of thread that’s double that length, plus about 10 extra cm so you can tie it easily. Then, pick out the beads you want to use and come up with a pattern, alternating the black and white beads and leaving a spot for the letter or heart beads to make it more personal. Thread the beads onto the cord one by one until your design is finished. Once you have all the beads on, try the bracelet on to make sure it fits well—it shouldn’t be too tight or too loose. After that, take the ends of the thread and tie a double or triple knot to keep it secure. Trim the extra thread, leaving a few millimeters so it doesn’t come undone. If you’d like, you can tuck the knot into one of the bigger beads to hide it.
